What the words mean

A page pointed you here because it used one of these words and didn't stop to explain it. Short version of each, and where to go if you want the long one.

explainer
One interactive, click-and-drag lesson — the unit this site is built from. 262 explainers on the AI/ML roadmap, 26 explainers on the Claude Architect track. Does not count boss challenges.
step
Anything the journey counts as you move through it: every explainer and every boss challenge. The roadmap's catalog has 274 catalog steps (262 explainers + 12 boss challenges); the full click-through sequence — which also counts the very first landing page — has 275 sequence steps. If a number on this site looks bigger than "262 explainers," it's counting steps, not explainers.
boss (challenge)
The coding challenge that closes a phase. No multiple choice — it hands you a real problem, runs your actual Python in the browser, and grades it. One per phase (6B counts as its own), 12 bosses.
BYO (Build-Your-Own)
A staged, test-driven build with no high-level libraries, so the internals become yours — an autograd engine, a mini-GPT, a vector database, and so on. 16 of them, each keyed to the phase that unlocks it (BYO-8 unlocks once you reach Phase 5). See all 16 →
chips
The small guided controls inside an explainer's panel — set one, watch the picture change, read why underneath. They're how a page walks you through an idea instead of just describing it.
The Model Foundry 🤖
The AI/ML roadmap's own game: earn robot parts in six mini-games (leakage, splits, models, losses, learning rate, thresholds), assemble and train GRAD-1, then debug it live in three missions. Enter the Foundry →
The Agent Hangar 🚀
The Claude Architect track's equivalent: build an agent's ship stage by stage, then fly missions with it. Enter the Hangar →
